We are incredibly lucky to have Alexandra Brinck join us again at Knit With Me. This time she is going to teach us all how to knit the perfect fitting pair of gloves. I just cannot wait.

Have you always wanted to knit gloves but felt it would be too complicated? Then this course is for you! Using Alexandras Jervis Glove pattern, choose between either fingering-weight or DK yarn to create a project that fits … well, like a glove! You will learn how to do a provisional cast on, knit a double-layer cuff and create a shaped thumb gusset, before picking up some tips for gap-less fingers.

Materials to bring with you

Yarn: 100g fingering weight or 100g DK yarn.

Alexandra and I highly recommend Ainsworth & Prin Classic Sock 4-ply or Classic Sock DK which is available in a beautiful range of colours. We have included some photos of our favourite colour combos. However if you want help with colours or yarns please do get in touch,

Optionally: you can also use a contrast colour yarn for your cuff lining. You will need 20g for the fingering weight gloves and 25g for the DK weight gloves. This is a great way to use up stash yarn from home to add a pop of colour and learn a new skill. We are also having some mini skeins dyed for us by Ainsworth & Prin to go with their 4-ply and DK sock weight yarns. Although they are not available until January, they will be in the same colours as the 100g full skeins and so you can easily see how they go together.

If knitting your gloves on DPNs then bring a set of DPNs  + stitch holders or spare needles. These are available in store here if needed but it is recommended you purchase before the first session of the course in case we do not have the correct size for you.

If knitting your gloves using Magic Loop then you will need 80cm circular needle + DPNs for knitting the fingers. These are available in store if needed but it is recommended you purchase before the first session of the course in case we do not have the correct size for you.

Alexandra recommends a 2.5mm for the fingering weight glove version and 3.5mm needles for the DK weight glove version.
