Few British designers are as closely associated with Fair Isle as Marie Wallin, who led design at Rowan for years before striking out under her own name. Her British Breeds aran, spun entirely from native sheep's wool, gives stranded colourwork the slightly toothy surface it needs, since the fibres cling lightly to each other and even out the floats. The kits here put that pairing to work on socks, a cowl, armwarmers, a hot water bottle cover and a reindeer Christmas stocking, each bundling her printed pattern with every shade required, alongside a book of her aran designs.
