A knitting squirrel, roughly, is what the name means in Japanese, and the squirrel has been this Kyoto publisher's mascot since two friends founded the magazine in 2012. Every issue runs in Japanese and English side by side, pairing a quiet, precise design sensibility with work from international designers. Beyond the magazine, the books here include the Assemblage volumes, the Seasonless collection of year round garments, a colourwork workbook and a sock knitting club in print form. The aesthetic stays consistent throughout: spare photography, muted palettes and designs that look as considered flat as worn.
