Knitting For Olive Soft Silk Mohair

Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair is a luxurious blend of the finest Kid Mohair and Mulberry silk. This yarn is incredible held double or along with a thread of Knitting For Olive Merino. Their Mohair comes from angora goats bred in South Africa, and the yarn is also produced locally.  All of their yarns are traceable back to the individual farms, which means they know exactly which farms, farmers, and goats our wool comes from.

All of their Mohair is independently certified to the Responsible Mohair Standard (RMS), certified by Control Union, CU 898826.

The yarn is produced with high respect for animal wellbeing, and with social responsibility. Their spinning mill adheres to ethical, technical, and environmental standards, producing yarns free of harmful chemicals.

The Silk in their Soft Silk Mohair is cruelty free. The silk fibres are collected from cocoons after the chrysalises are allowed to mature into moths and escape. This means that the silk worms are not killed in the process as they are in conventional silk production.

Yarn Composition: made from 70 % mohair and 30 % mulberry silk, the mohair is RMS certified, and the silk is cruelty-free.

Yarn Gauge: This yarn is lace weight mohair, which can be held with multiple strands of the same yarn or with other yarns, like fingering weight, to give a "halo" to the fabric. 

Gauge: Not really done for Mohair lace weight, as is commonly the case with other yarns.

Recommend Knitting Needles:  Not really knitted on a single thread 

Recommend Crochet hook: Not normally used for single-thread crochet. 

Knitting Machine: Can be used if the yarn is wound onto a cone.

Care instructions: Best to hand-wash with a no-rinse detergent, then shape the fabric on a flat surface (e.g., a towel) and lay flat to dry. Definitely do not tumble dry. 

Other Information: The yarn is RMS-certified (Responsible Mohair Standard), which covers not only animal treatment but also farm practices, and is cruelty-free silk, meaning the silk is collected after the silkworm has left the cocoon.
