Herded in the Andes for thousands of years, alpacas grow a fleece that suits the mountain climate: each fibre has a partly hollow core that traps heat while staying remarkably light. The resulting yarn insulates exceptionally well, carries almost no lanolin and drapes rather than bounces, so it flatters shawls and relaxed garments. Bases here range from whisper-fine lace to aran and a curly, teddy-textured bouclé, with blends that add cotton, linen, silk, and merino for structure.
