About the Double Knitting / DK Yarn Collection
A piece of British knitting history hides in the name, which once described a strand roughly twice the thickness of the old standard 4ply. The term stuck, and DK remains one of the most reached-for weights in British patterns, knitting to around 22 stitches per 10cm on 4mm needles. That middle ground gives garments warmth without bulk and suits cables, colourwork and plain stocking stitch equally well. The selection here spans merino, cashmere, lambswool, alpaca, and cotton blends, with mini skeins for adding contrast colours and a sturdier DK-weight yarn spun specifically for socks.
