Baby Bear Suit Knitting Kit | Pattern & Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino Yarn 

Baby Bear Suit is a roomy and cosy all-in-one suit with a hood that features cute little bear ears. The suit is worked from the top down with either 1 strand of Heavy Merino or 2 strands of Merino held together, and either with or without feet. The hood, yoke, and main part of the body are worked back and forth, while the legs, sleeves, and the bottom part of the body are worked in the round.

This kit lets you select the size (with or without feet) to knit the pattern and the colour of the Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino yarn; it will then calculate how many balls of each yarn type you will need.

You begin with the hood and continue with the raglan-construction yoke. Then the sleeve stitches are set aside to be finished after the body and legs are completed. You then work the rest of the body, picking up stitches for the button bands, before working the legs. For sizes 1-12 months, you have the option to knit the feet onto the legs for an extra-warm and cosy Baby Bear Suit, instead of ending the legs with ribbed cuffs. Short-row heels and decreases at the toes complete the feet. The heel is an inserted-type heel, also called ‘peasant heel’ or ‘forethought heel’. Ribbed cuffs finish the sleeves.

Yarn (for reference): 1 strand of either Knitting for Olive Heavy Merino (125 g [137 yd] / 50 g [1.8 oz]), worsted weight yarn, 4 (4, 5, 6, 7) balls for suit without feet or 4 (5, 6, 7, -) balls for suit with feet.
Needles: 3 mm / US2.5 and 4 mm / US6 circular needles and double-pointed needles, or in size to obtain gauge
Gauge (after blocking): 21 sts and 31 rows = 10 cm [4”] in st st with 4 mm / US6 needles
Notions: Stitch markers, waste yarn in a contrasting colour, stitch holders, tapestry needle, 5 (6) 6 (6) 6 buttons (diameter: 12 - 15 mm [½”])
