Albertine is another beautiful yarn from one of our favourites here at Knit With Me, De Rerum Natura. Albertine is a 4 ply, worsted spun yarn made from precious fleece of Merinos d'Arles, raised in organic farming near Aureille in Provence and a touch of silk.
The silk gives this fine (21.5 microns) and exceptionally elastic wool the perfect amount of added drape. Just the right amount of silk to make each stitch a soft little luxury...
These very fine fibres are combed into a ribbon to increase their softness and strength, and then spun in the Biella region of Italy, as no spinning mill in France today is capable of spinning such fine combed yarn. This single strand is then twisted to create a four strand yarn, dyed in Creuse (France).
ON THE NEEDLES
The result is a harmonious yarn, round and strong, soft and subtly satiny. Its softness, drape and definition make it perfect for knitting fine layette, a slightly precious jumper, pretty lace shawls and anything else you want to wear next to your skin.
RECOMMENDED CARE
This yarn is not superwash treated. We recommend washing your knitted fabric in warm water with soap or a suitable detergent. If you wish to test the wool programme of your machine, we advise you to do so first with your sample.
Albertine is named after the feminine character of la recherche du temps perdu by Marcel Proust.
