Knitting For Olive

Alex Hood is a cosy hooded scarf knitted back and forth in a simple 2x2 rib, holding one strand of Knitting for Olive Merino together with one strand of Soft Silk Mohair. Wear it down like a classic scarf, or pull the hood up on blustery days to keep your head and face warm.

You knit the scarf in two halves, each from a tip to the centre, then graft them together at the back. Stitches are picked up for the hood, which is worked in the same rib and shaped with increases and decreases for a snug fit.

This kit includes the free PDF pattern and the yarn needed to knit the hood. Choose your Merino colour and your Soft Silk Mohair colour, and we will add 3 balls of each to your basket.

Reference materials (yarn provided): Knitting for Olive Merino (250 m [273 yd] / 50 g), fingering weight, 3 balls, held together with Knitting for Olive Soft Silk Mohair (225 m [246 yd] / 25 g), lace weight, 3 balls. The sample is knitted in Merino in Cardamom with Soft Silk Mohair in Linen.

Knitting for Olive Merino is a soft, smooth fingering weight merino with beautiful stitch definition, available in a wide range of muted, Scandinavian inspired shades.

Soft Silk Mohair is a light, airy blend of kid mohair and silk. Held together with Merino it adds warmth and a gentle halo without adding weight, which makes it ideal for a scarf worn close to the face.

About Knitting for Olive

Knitting for Olive is a Danish family-run yarn company founded in 2015 by mother and daughter, Pernille and Caroline, with son and brother, Alexander, joining the business in 2022.
