Duplicate Stitch and Swiss Darning Workshop | Selina Latour

Discover the slow art of knitwear repair in this practical workshop focused on Duplicate Stitch and Swiss Darning techniques with Selina. Participants will learn how to replicate knit stitches on stockinette knits, recover dropped stitches, and practise repairing a small hole. With enough time we will also look at darning garter stitch and ribbing too. All materials are provided—no prior experience necessary and no need to bring anything with you.

The workshop takes place upstairs in the store, accessed via a spiral staircase.

We need a minimum number of bookings for this course to go ahead. If we do not meet the minimum 4 days before the workshop you will be offered a new date or a refund.

Due to the small number of spaces, please let us know as soon as possible if you can no longer attend as a refund can only be offered if we can fill your space.

A little about Selina

Selina is a textile artist, craft educator, and workshop facilitator whose interest in textiles is deeply rooted in her history of community building and practices of care. Alongside hand processes such as mending, sewing, knitting, and weaving, she embraces digital tools to develop patterns and ideas, working between digital design and material making.

Originally from Montreal, Canada, Selina holds a BFA from NSCAD University (2016) and an MFA in Fibres from Concordia University (2023). Selina began her teaching career during her Master’s and since moving to London in 2024, she has worked as an Associate Lecturer and Technical Demonstrator in Fashion and Textiles at Buckinghamshire New University, and as a Sewing and Textiles Tutor at Richmond Adult Community College and City Lit. She also regularly facilitates public mending and textile workshops at community spaces focused on creative reuse and repair.
