Overview

Welcome to our Introduction to Interlocking Crochet Workshop at Knit With Me. In this 4-hour workshop, we will introduce you to the wonderful world of interlocking crochet! Also known as reversible or locked filet mesh, interlocking crochet is an advanced style of colorwork that creates a stunning, fully reversible, double-thickness fabric.

You will learn the mechanics of interlocking stitches and begin working on a reversible crochet pouch. We will also explore both written instructions and interlocking charts so you can develop a preference for how you like to read these unique patterns.

Prerequisites

Since this is a more advanced technique, you must already be comfortable with chaining, as well as single and double crochet (UK double and treble crochet).

What to Bring:

  • Yarn: Two contrasting colours of yarn in the same weight. We recommend sport, DK, or worsted weight. (Note: It is extremely important that there is high visual contrast between your two colours).
  • Tools: A crochet hook suited to your yarn weight, and stitch markers.

Sophia will be on hand before the workshop to help you choose and purchase the perfect yarn if you don't have anything in your stash to work with and need some guidance!

What We Provide:

  • A custom crochet pattern (both written and charted) for a reversible pouch. The pattern includes instructions for multiple sizes, so you can choose to make a pouch for your glasses, your phone, or a book!
  • A darning needle, scissors, and a tape measure for use during class.
