It’s Not a Sweatshirt Pattern + Knitting for Olive:  Merino & Soft Silk Mohair | Advanced Beginner / Intermediate Knitting Kit

It’s Not a Sweatshirt is a simple yet staple sweater with a relaxed fit, inspired by the classic sweatshirt. The sweater is worked seamless top down in the round in stockinette stitch. It begins with a folded ribbed neckband and continues with short-row neckline shaping and raglan increases to the underarms. Sleeve stitches are then placed on hold to be worked after the body has been completed.

This kit lets you select the size to knit the pattern and the colour of the Knitting for Olive yarn (Merino and the mohair); it will then calculate how many balls of each yarn type you will need.

It’s Not a Sweatshirt is knit with two strands together throughout, one strand of Merino and one strand of Soft Silk Mohair. You can easily add your personal and unique touch to this basic sweater by mixing and matching colours and choosing your own combination. The possible variations are endless!

It’s Not a Sweatshirt is size-inclusive and designed to be worn hip-length, with a positive ease of approx. 4 - 14 cm 1,5 - 5,5“

The sample is knit in Merino, Pearl Gray colorway and Soft Silk Mohair, Limestone colourway

Yarn (for reference): 1 strand of Knitting for Olive Merino, Cotton Merino or Pure Silk (250 m [273 yd] / 50 g [1.8 oz]), fingering-weight yarn; 4 (4, 5, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7) balls; and 1 strand of Soft Silk Mohair (225 m [246 yd] / 25 g [0.9 oz]), lace-weight yarn; 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7) balls

Needles: 3.5 mm / US4, 4 mm / US6 and 4.5 mm / US7 circular needles, and 3.5 mm / US4, 4 mm / US6 and 4.5 mm / US7 double-pointed needles, in size to obtain gauge, and 3 mm / US2.5 circular needle for Italian bind-off method
Gauge: 20 sts and 29 rows = 10 cm [4"] in st st with 4.5 mm / US7 needle

About Knitting for Olive

Knitting for Olive is a Danish family-run yarn company founded in 2015 by mother and daughter, Pernille and Caroline, with son and brother, Alexander, joining the business in 2022. What began as a small line of baby and toddler knitting patterns grew into a full range of designs for children and adults, and in 2016, the family launched their own yarn, starting with Merino and later expanding to include Soft Silk Mohair, Pure Silk, No Waste Wool, and more.
