Overview

The KnitPro Natural Yarn Swift takes the hard work out of winding hanks. Instead of draping a skein over a chair back or asking a friend to hold it, you simply open the swift like an umbrella, slip your skein over the arms and tighten it until the yarn sits snugly. It then turns smoothly as you wind, so the yarn feeds off evenly without tangles or snags.

Made from natural beech wood with a smooth, polished finish, it clamps securely to the edge of a table or worktop and folds away neatly when you have finished. Use it alongside a ball winder to turn skeins into yarn cakes in minutes. It works just as well the other way round too: wind yarn from a frogged project or a cake back into a skein for washing, relaxing or dyeing.

Details

Material: natural beech wood
Open diameter: up to 48 cm (19 in)
Skein size: holds skeins up to 152 cm (60 in) in circumference
Height: 71 cm (28 in)
Clamp opening: up to about 4 cm (1.5 in)

How to set it up: loosen the screw under the clamp, fix the swift to your table and tighten until it feels firm. Loosen the screw on the central shaft, open the arms to fit your skein, then tighten it again and check the swift spins freely before you start winding.
