Overview
Akeboshi by Noro is a luxurious blend of 85% wool and 15% silk giving Akeboshi warmth and substance, balanced by the soft luster and fluidity of silk. Its gently varied texture adds dimension to even the simplest stitches, allowing stockinette, garter stitch, cables, and textured patterns to develop an organic, richly layered appearance. The result is a fabric with remarkable depth, movement, and the unmistakable artistry of Noro. If you have always wanted to knit with Noro ITO but it has been a little too rustic/natural for you, then Akeoboshi is something to try with its added silk.
Each generous 150-gram ball contains approximately 295 yards, making Akeboshi an inspiring choice for statement sweaters, sculptural cardigans, cozy jackets, hats, scarves, and accessories. Bold yet beautifully nuanced, it is a yarn for projects that feel both grounded and luminous, with every stitch revealing another unexpected detail.
Akeboshi means "morning star" in Japanese and evokes that fleeting moment before sunrise, when the sky is still shadowed but the first hints of colour begin to break through. Deep, grounded tones form the foundation of the yarn, while lively flecks and shifting strands of colour appear unexpectedly throughout, like sparks of light scattered across the early morning sky.
Please note each ball looks slight different as different sections of the colour way are visible from the outer layer. We have photographed three together to show you the variation but you these are sold as individual balls.
