Overview
This kit is available for pre-order and will be shipped on Monday 21st September. Any items ordered along with these shall be held and shipped on Monday. If you would like your other items shipped immediately please place a separate order for these.
The Woodland Joy Sock Kit is designed by Nicola of Tea Cake + Make and the yarn is hand dyed by Shannon of Blue Fern Yarns.
The Woodland Joy Socks knitting pattern is a great pattern for sock knitting lovers with just enough colour work to keep things interesting. The design is great for novice colour work knitters, and it is an enjoyable intuitive knit for the more experienced stitchers.
The pattern is in English with a colour work chart for each size. The pattern offers 3 adult circumference sizes Small, Medium and Large; the leg and foot lengths are easily adjustable to suit by adding more rounds/stripe repeats.
Your kit includes a printed copy of the Woodland Joy Sock knitting pattern written by Nicola and 5 mini 20g skeins of sock yarn hand-dyed by Shannon. The sock yarn is a base of 75% superwash merino 25% nylon with approx. 85 meters per 20g.
We recommend a 2.5 mm / US 1.5 DPNs or circular needles for magic loop or small circular knitting, but change to needles of your preference to achieve advised gauge. If you have tension difficulties with colourwork consider increasing your needle size or knitting inside out for that section.
SIZES
Small 56 sts - circumference 17.5 cm / 6.75”
Medium 64 sts - circumference 20 cm / 7.75”
Large 72 sts - circumference 22.5 cm / 8.75”
More about Blue Fern Yarns
Blue Fern Yarns was established in October 2019 by Shannon as a hobby while she worked full time in Commercial Retail Property Management. She felt the need for a creative outlet in her life as her Surveying role did not provide it.
Shannon grew up in a family of women who enjoyed knitting and crocheting, so it was inevitable that she would eventually follow the same path. She tried her hand at various crafts over the years, but found her passion for yarn in 2015 when she started her crochet journey.
In April 2020, Shannon learned to knit and was drawn to the different garments and stitches that knitting could create, which crochet could not. Initially, Shannon found it challenging to create her own clothing but with her mum's help, she learned techniques for the things she really wanted to make, such as jumpers and tops.
In May 2024, Shannon made the decision, with a little push from friends, to quit her day job and dedicate herself to Blue Fern Yarns. Shannon is excited about this new chapter and hopes we shall all join her on this journey.
Blue Fern Yarns takes inspiration from nature, plants and scenery from Shannons home in Norfolk in the UK. She currently dyes yarns in her home in Norwich which she shares with her fluffy black cat, Bennett.
In her spare time Shannon loves being with friends and family, savouring good food, heading out on little adventures, and settling in with knitting, crocheting, or a good book.
