Our KWM community stretches far and wide!
Good morning crafters! How are we all doing? My main thought right now is that I am just thankful not to be in France, 41 degrees! I think I might even struggle to knit in that heat.
We have had the incredible, and repeated experience this month, of customers stopping outside the shop, very excited and taking lots of photos. This makes us smile lots as we are super proud of how the shop on Richmond Hill looks and then we hold our breath hoping they are going to come in. After photos are taken, they do come in and come straight up to one of us and introduce themselves, saying that they follow us on Instagram, listen to our lives, join in with our KALs and are super excited to finally visit the shop in person for THE VERY FIRST TIME. You have no idea what an incredible experience this is for the KWM team, knowing you have made the effort to come visit during your summer travels. To meet members of our crafting community face to face. Hear names we recognise from orders, faces we recognise from Instagram and voices we recognise from phone and zoom calls. There is an immediate connection, an immediate understanding, recognition and shared excitement. This month there has been hugs, laughs, retelling of stories. This community is the absolute best. Thank you.
Technology is incredible and allows us all to stay connected when stretched out all over the world. However, and its a huge HOWEVER, being physically in the same place and talking face to face, laughing together in the same room, sharing yarn squishing and texture and colour together in the same space. It's just a completely different experience for all involved. I treasure these experiences and have been spoilt rotten with so many of them this month whilst you are all on your travels.
If you make the journey to come see us in person, please do take photos, do introduce yourself and let us know who you are and how we have interacted. Then lets spend some time together in our happy place surrounded with yarn.
For those of you who don't follow us on Instagram, and who can't travel to see us, here is our June Newsletter so you can keep up with everything we are up to. We have lots of new things to introduce you to, finished projects, new cast-ons, things we are excited about and other updates! Lets go!

NEW SOHMO

Amelia feels there is something about these adorably cute notions from SOHMO that scratches the crafting notions itch and the stationary itch that we both have, and I really know what she means. Are you a stationary nut too like us? it seems to be a common thing with knitters and crochet peeps!
SOHMO is a new crafting brand from Australia and we just fell for the gorgeous little tins and the high quality tools and notions they carry. Especially the SOHMO little travel safe scissors. Squeals were heard far and wide around Richmond Hill when those came out the delivery box. Sorry, not sorry, to all the neighbours.
This collection includes tins of open spiral/snail, round, heart and opening stitch markers. Darning needles, blocking t-pins, those adorable little mini scissors and heart shaped finger thimbles that stick directly on your finger just where you need it. Brilliant for tight knitters who use a finger tip to move stitches up the needle. These protect that spot without getting in the way or affecting your dexterity. Who wants some?

PetiteKnit Patterns + Kits

Finally, we have PetiteKnit printed knitting patterns in store. I know it's taken us a long time and a lot of work has been happening in the backgroup to make it happen. But they are here and we are very excited as you guys have been loving them since they hit the website. We have a total of 62 at present and have just ordered mens patterns and more women's and children's.
As you can see from above there was a lot of organising to do when they arrived. We have spent time making lists of recommended yarns and links for each one on the website, so if you see something you like you can check out what the KWM team would use in the "KWM Yarn suggestions" tab on each page.
We are also slowly going through them all to make PetiteKnit Kits for them We have done a couple so far, but making kits takes a lot of admin time and effort so we are going through them slowly so bear with us. You'll see more and more pop up as we go along.
If you don't want to wait and want to get a pattern and yarn now and not sure which of the recommended yarns would be our favourite and not sure how much you would need, just email us through the contact page here and we will help you out.

Two New Workshops for July
We don't often add new workshops mid season but we just had to break the rules for these beauties. If you have been following us for long you'll know we post a new workshop timetable every 3-4 months. Our next timetable will take us from August to December and we will send out a newsletter about it all mid to late July.
However, we are excited to tell you about two new additions that we have managed to squueze in during July. First we have an Introduction to Sashiko Workshop with Alicia where you will make a cederwood sashimi embroidered pouch to look after and care for your knitwear. If you see Sashimi anywhere, it's a typo, not a mixed craft workshop. My computer just keeps auto-correcting it each time I type it. We also the fabulous Sophia joining the teaching team here at Knit With Me and she will be hosting an Introduction to Interlocking Crochet where you will create a little push using this crazy clever reversible form of crochet. Check out the links below for more information.

Whats on our needles

So what are we working on? Well, a lot of us have things on the needles right now that we cannot share at present, we will explain in the next newsletter! So it may seem like we aren't doing much, but I promise we are. I've cast on a Lillie Tee by Kolibri by Johanna in Pasculai Suave in the colour 74 Strawberry. Stupidly I took a ball home and cast on without checking what stock we had left. After an inch or two of knitting I was over the moon with how it was looking and went to get the other 5 balls I needed only to find we had sold out. Pasculai themselves are out of stock of Strawberry, Cream and Grape, so this may have to go on hold till mid July when we get a restock. We have plenty of the other colours though and they are all gorgeous.
This yarn is incredible, a soft brushed cotton. It feels like cashmere and makes the most glorious light fabric. It gets overlooked a little in store as it isn't always the prettiest looking thing in the ball on the shelf, but you really need to try it out. If you prefer something more silk like try out Arctic Pearl by Pascuali as an alternative.
